Dave has been with LCK since 2003 and has resided in Merced since 1990. With an extensive background in management and sales in the financial sector, he is well equipped to manage the operations of LCK. His 35 year career has spanned from an entry level management trainee to encompass roles as a Branch Manager, Supervisor of U.S. Finance (sales training), District Manager and Director of Internal Audit and currently is the Chief Operations Officer of LCK. Dave is an avid cyclist, motorcycle rider and enjoys hiking, camping and kayaking. With these interests, Merced is an ideal place to call home.
Shawn—a U.S. Army Veteran—has been a licensed insurance agent since 1990.Shawn joined the LCK team in 1992 after spending his first two years of insurance with Farmers Insurance Group. Shawn joined LCK as a Commercial Lines Producer—ultimately expanding his role to become Vice President of Sales as well as our Sales Manager. Shawn’s inquisitive nature lead him to obtain both the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and Certified Risk Manager (CRM) designations through the National Alliance; additionally, he acquired the Agribusiness Farm Insurance Specialist (AFIS) designation through the International Risk Management Institute. With over twenty-seven years of experience, Shawn brings expertise and common sense solutions to his clients. In his spare time, Shawn will likely be found on the golf course, traveling or spending time with his family—especially his grandkids.

My insurance career spans more than two decades and includes extensive work in group captives and construction working with general contractors and subcontractors all over the State. I’m results driven, offering clients more than the basic functions required. I help to manage the risk associated with construction to the benefit of my clients and the people they work for. Services include contract and audit review, experience rating counseling and projection and claims management. I spend time developing and promoting alternative risk solutions for businesses that want to find ways to recapture their insurance premiums through innovative alternative insurance products.
Scott Camper has been managing commercial insurance risk for the past 20 years at LCK. With Scott’s vast past, it allows him to be able to manage risk with a better understanding from the insured’s eyes of operating a business. Scott was born & bred in the biggest little State in the Union, Rhode Island. He later moved on to Massachusetts to graduate from American International College in 1988 with concentrations in Economics, Marketing. After college, Scott started working for the Holliday Inn hotel chain. After a year Scott left the hotel industry and bought a coin operated laundry. He went on to add two more locations. By 1992, Scott decided to exit the entrepreneur world and take off on a personal journey. He peddled across the country, ending the trip with climbing Mt. Rainier. That journey started what has become his last 24 years here in California. Scott’s been married over 20 years, has two kids and both are in college now. He looks forward in helping you manage your commercial insurance needs.
As a young adult, Melinda started her journey into the customer service industry which included a variety of opportunities to serve the public. Her people skills and her true devotion to customers extended beyond the normal 8 to 5 job. Melinda’s insurance career started in 1989 where she began as a Customer Service Agent. Through her numerous valued customers, she learned that insurance and customer service was leading her down the path to where she is today as a Commercial Sales Agent. Melinda obtained her Agribusiness Farm Insurance Specialist Designation (AFIS) in 2017 which strengthened her expertise in the Farming and Non-Profit industries. She is also heavily involved in the community by volunteering in numerous non-profit organizations including spiritual care at the local hospital. Melinda and her husband of 32 years enjoy camping and fishing in their spare time. They have a daughter and several animals that brighten up their world.
Pedro was introduced into the insurance industry at the young age of 16 through a Regional Occupational Program offered at his local high school. While attending college, he decided to make insurance his career path and obtained his insurance license in 2007; acquiring his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a Marketing concentration from California State University, Stanislaus in 2008. Pedro has been a member of the Leap/ Carpenter/ Kemps family since 2009; he has obtained a Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation from the National Alliance and is constantly pursuing further education to stay at top of the ever changing insurance industry. In his spare time, his life revolves around his wife and three kids—who are heavily involved in youth activities and sports.
Leading with a client first focus, Mike looks to partner with organizations and individuals by working closely to ensure their risk management needs and financial goals are being met and supported. He has multiple years of experience working with a large array of clients, while specializing in construction, manufacturing, and agricultural based businesses. Mike joined LCK as a Commercial Lines Producer in 2014 and with his hard work ethic, obtained his Accredited Adviser in Insurance (AAI) designation through The Institutes in 2015. He is currently pursuing his Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation through the National Alliance. Mike is an avid sports fan and enjoys playing golf and ice hockey in his spare time.
Terri started her insurance career in 1980 in Sonora, Ca. She was given an opportunity to explore insurance as a career and found it to be a perfect career while raising her family. Terri is very well-rounded having experience in many aspects of insurance with her predominant focus being in Life and Health with an emphasis on Employee Benefits. Her motto is “If I can’t do it…it can’t be done.
She recently joined LCK as she wanted to be affiliated with a locally owned agency that has a good reputation and shares her values. Terri has been a board member and Secretary/Treasurer of Merced Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors since 1998. Terri enjoys helping her clients by giving one on one attention.
